WASTEWATER
Yankee Lake Regional Wastewater
Treatment Facility
The
Yankee Lake Regional Wastewater Treatment
Facility is
a state-of-the-art system enabling the preservation
of a 3000 acre pristine wildlife area along
the St. Johns River. The system includes
natural wetland effluent disposal, reclaimed
irrigation, and Rapid Infiltration Basins
(RIBs). Along with this system, the Division
is working hand-in-hand with other divisions
to utilize the land for other uses, including
over a 1000 acres to the Natural Lands program
for hiking and trails.
Seminole County
is also working to preserve the habitat of
the Florida Scrub Jay on this site.
