GREENWAYS & NATURAL LANDS
Florida Invasive Plant Working
Group
Who
Are We?
The East Central Florida Invasive Plant Working
Group (ECFIPWG) is a diverse group of state,
county, city and private land managers concerned
with controlling the spread of upland invasive
exotic plants on public conservation lands.
The group includes members from the Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission,
the Department of Environmental Protection
(Florida Park Service), Seminole County Natural
Lands Program, Florida Division of Forestry,
both St. Johns River Water Management District
and South Florida Water Management District
and many others. Gregg
Walker serves as the working group coordinator
and liaison to DEP's Upland Invasive Exotic
Plant Management Program office in Tallahassee.
It is our sincere wish that this working
group continues to grow and increase its
fight against upland invasive exotic plants.
How Can You
Become Part of It and Why?
Contact the Bureau of Invasive Plant Management at 850-245-2555. for more information. Because several working groups represent
the entire state, you must be within Orange, Osceola, or Seminole County to
be a part of the East Central Florida Working Group. Everyone is welcome. If
you are a land manager or own land you wish to remain in a natural state, then
you should be a part of it. One of the major benefits from being part of this
group is the knowledge that is shared regarding funding opportunities. Currently,
proposals are being accepted for grant awards from the DEP Bureau of Invasive
Plant Management in Tallahassee and are being handled locally through working
groups, such as ours. Information on who, what, where, when, and how can be
obtained from the phone numbers listed above or from the web at the FDEP
Upland Management site.
